Hilary Sloane

After 35 years as a producer and photo-stylist in New York and Los Angeles, I left my career and moved to Joshua Tree, California. In the desert I found myself in a position to contemplate what I wanted to do. Finding the Mojave Desert an interesting place with many issues previously unknown to me I began to travel, research, photograph and interview people. I traveled in search of stories that caught my attention and answered the question “Why do we do the things we do?” I began this journey by taking on-line courses at Gotham University, Poynter News University, and through the Knight Foundation. I am a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists, and have been published in the Hi-Desert Star and by the San Bernardino Arts Connection. My photographs have been shown locally and in Los Angeles and Pasadena.

My creative writing comes from memory and contemplation. Each piece , like the ongoing piece on America, may include photography, spoken work performance and podcast.
